Academic Support System
Future School is an integrated institutions which offers programs from early childhood to secondary education. They are accepting enrollees with age from six (6) months and older, as well as transferees from other public and private institutions. Since FIS just started its operation last 2018, they are now accommodating around 2,000 pupils and students from kindergarten to grade 8 in highschool. In order to ensure that the enrollees are receiving the quality education that they need, the institution is providing high standard classrooms and other facilities that are conducive for learning, as well as quality and hard working faculty and staff.
Teaching System
The teaching system in FIS is somewhat similar to other elementary and secondary schools in the Philippines. The teachers tend to incorporate more engaging activities to the lessons in order for the students to enjoy while they are learning. But aside from that, the difference is that, students are given 15 minutes break every after a period so that they can take rest as well as do their other tasks. They are also given a one (1) hour nap after their lunch break where they are allowed to bring beddings and sleeping uniform and sleep for that intended time. There are also time allotted for leisure which includes swimming, games, sports and gardening.
Materials and Other Learning Sources
FIS promotes the utilization of different materials and learning sources. Primarily, the institution provides variety of learning materials like book, workbooks, worksheets, etc. for every student. Aside from that, books and workbooks are available online wherein there are series of activities for students to practice their four (4) basic skills which are listening, speaking, reading and writing. The institution also have its own state of the art library with latest books and other references.
As to the measurement and evaluation system of Future Integrated School, they utilizes the workbook provided by the institution to evaluate the learning of the students at every end of the topic. When it comes to summative evaluation, just like in the Philippines, they tend to use "Test" to measure the learnings of students. It usually comes in the form of filling in the blanks, multiple choice, matching type and answering questions about the given selections or stories.
The curriculum of the Future Integrated School was developed in order to meet the standards set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Aside from their Vietnamese subjects, they also offers English and German language in order to enhance the communication skills of the students. They are offering German language because they are in partnership with a German foundation, which is the one who is helping them to develop the school. Their curriculum can benefit those students that are in transition from other schools, either public or private as well as international, because it will lessen the difficulty in terms of the adjustment in language and norms.
Before I was deployed in the field, I spent almost one week observing my cooperating teacher especially on how she teach students. My cooperating teacher from Future Integrated School is Ms. Ana Rea Lagrosa from Quezon Province, Philippines. She assigned me in two sections of Grade 6 where I'm going to teach English language. She gave me a sample of her lesson plan that will serve as guide for me on how I am going to develop my lesson. This is the sample lesson plan given to me by my cooperating teacher:
